I would suggest you not to join the government as an IT officer…..If your are comfortable with your job…in government sector IT officers are fall under the specialist category…as per rule you will get promoted to next level only after 5 years of service with annual increment of just Rs 600/-+DA…..Even a clerk who joined the bank after you get promoted within 4 years of service…

If it's dual specialization you are eligible other wise your major specialization will be considered…..waise get it cleared from IBPS through mail or Phone

it varies with bank to bank but IT officers are needed by bank in good number compare to technical officers…
