Kolkata Knight Riders‘ bought Yusuf, the elder brother, for a whopping $2.1 million and Irfan, who is not among the probables for the World Cup, took home $1.9 million after he was bought by Delhi Daredevils.
The next in the rich list were Australia’s Hussey brothers. Kings XI paid $1.4 million for the hard-hitting David, who started from a base price of $300,000. The more conventional and elder brother Michael, also known as Mr. Cricket, was retained by last year’s champions Chennai Super Kings at $425,000.
Chennai Super Kings had already retained South African all-rounder Albie Morkel for $500,000 while his younger brother Morne was lapped up by Delhi Daredevils for $475,000.
The duo of Brendon and Nathan McCullum from New Zealand also managed to attract the franchises. Brendon, who had hit the first century of the IPL in 2008, went to Kochi for $475,00 while all-rounder Nathan was picked by Pune Warriors at a base price of $100,000.
