IIT Kanpur GATE
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entirely India examination administrated and carried jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on place of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher teaching, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Government of India. IIT Kanpur is also using GATE to give the admission to candidates in various courses.
Eligibility for Gate
Bachelor degree owners in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the last or pre-final year of such programmes.
Master degree owners in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or its equal and those who are in the last or pre-final year of such programmes.
Students in the second or higher year of the Four-year incorporated Master degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/ Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year incorporated Master degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/ Technology.
Students with qualifications got by examinations carried by professional societies accepted by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE (I), Â AMICE (I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE (I)) as equal to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have finished section A or equal of such professional courses are also eligible.
Availability of Application Forms
Information Brochure and Application Form can be got on cash payment of Rs 1000/- (Rs 500/- for SC/ST/PD) from the denominated Bank Branches corresponding to each zone (as given below). students can also get Information Brochure and Application Form by Post from the zonal GATE offices by mailing a request letter and two self-addressed slips along with a DD for the amount (mentioned as above) payable at the city of the various zonal GATE office (for details, Click Here). Application Form can also be got from the zonal GATE Offices after handing over DD for the reserve amount.
How to Apply
Students can present Application Form in two different modes: Offline and Online
Examination Structure
The GATE examination comprises of a single paper of 3 hours length, which contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will comprise of only multiple choice objective questions.
