Career Prospects:
Despite an increase in the no. of nursing college across the country, acute shortage of nurses continues to persists .There has been a rise in the admissions in Nursing college ,but ther has not been a corresponding improvement in quality of training .Therefor there is a huge demand for highly qualified and well trained nurses in India and foreign countries.
According to Indian Govt. estimates there is a 40 -50% shortage of nursing personnel in India. On the one hand the demand for nurses in India is increasing and on the other hand more and more Indian trained nurses are migrating to foreign countries where they are assured of better prospects.
One of the main reason for increase in demand for nurses in rich western countries is rise in ageing population there. In the coming years there will be a huge demand for in -home service in America and Europe as many older people now prefer staying at home rather then get admitted to nursing facilities. So there is bound to increase in the demand for a greater no. of nurses who can pay individual attention to well -off senior citizens.
In the developed countries the aging population with money and insurance seek more personnel attention and care and therefore the increasing demand for nurses.
Ageing also impacts nursing profession .For instance according to one estimate in America about one out of three employed nurse will be retiring in the coming years .So, there will be more vacancies which have to be filled.
