Supreme Court Asks Government Whether Affluent People Among SC/ST Can be Denied Quota

Recently Central Government has told Supreme Court while hearing the reservation in promotion of Government Jobs, Supreme court asks central government whether affluent people among SC/ST can be denied quota benefits in promotion by applying creamy layer principle. 

Centre Government has told Supreme Court that Creamy layer principle cannot be applied to deny quota benefits in promotions to SC/ST employees in Government jobs.

Attorney General (AG) sited the backwardness of the caste among SC/ST community for centuries. He further added that  even if some of them have come up, today SC/ST people are socially backward and not allowed to marry higher caste people and ride horses.
